Answer: Click on the "Log In" button in the top menu, then enter your username and password. If you check the box labeled "Remember Me", you will not need to log in again every time you visit. IMPORTANT: Cookies must be enabled in your browser and the cookie from this site must not be deleted in order to use "Remember Me".
Question: Why can I not log in?
Answer: Did you register and follow the account activation instructions in the email that you received? For any other login problems, you will need to contact the site administrator.
Question: What are cookies?
Answer: A cookie is a plain text data file which is sent from a website and saved onto your computer. Cookies usually allow a user to leave and return to a site without having to log in again.
Question: What if I forgot my password?
Answer: Go to "Log In" and click on "Forgot password". Your password will be emailed to you immediately.
Question: What if I changed my email address?
Answer: Just simply log in and change your email address by editing your profile.
Question: What if I forgot my password AND changed my email address?
Answer: In that case, you would need to re-register with a new ID and start over. Sorry! Note: Exceptions will be made if the site administrator personally knows you and there is no doubt that you are the owner of the account in question.
Navigating the Site
Question: What is "Album List"?
Answer: If you are currently viewing images within a category, clicking the "Album List" menu button will take you to the main page of that particular category. If you are not viewing images within a category, it will take you to the main page of the Horseyville Gallery. The thumbnail images are the links to view the contents of the individual albums.
Question: What is "My Gallery"?
Answer: Clicking the "My Gallery" menu button allows you to create your own galleries and add, delete, or modify albums, as well as upload to them.
Question: What is the difference between "Admin Mode" and "User Mode"?
Answer: While in Admin Mode, you will be able to modify items in your personal gallery, such as creating, deleting and renaming albums; renaming photos; adding and editing photo descriptions; etc. You can be in User Mode to upload photos and browse categories.
Question: What is "Upload File"?
Answer: Clicking the "Upload File" menu button allows you to upload a file (size and type is set by the site administrator) to a gallery selected by either you or the administrator.
Question: What is "Last Uploads"?
Answer: Clicking the "Last Uploads" menu button will display the most recently uploaded files.
Question: What is "Last Comments"?
Answer: Clicking the "Last Comments" menu button will display the most recent comments posted by members along with the files which were commented on.
Question: What is "Most Viewed"?
Answer: This one's pretty obvious. Clicking the "Most Viewed" menu button will display the files which have been viewed the most amount of times.
Question: What is "Top Rated"?
Answer: Clicking the "Top Rated" menu button will display the files which have the highest average viewer ratings. The ratings go from (best) to (worst).
Question: What is "My Favorites"?
Answer: Clicking the "My Favorites" menu button will display all of the files you have previously added to your Favorites. If enabled by the administrator, you would also be able to download a zip file containing all of your favorite files from this page. (Zip file feature is currently disabled).
General Usage
Question: How can I view other members' galleries?
Answer: Click on the "Album List" menu button and select "User Galleries".
Question: How do I save a file to "My Favorites"?
Answer: After clicking on a thumbnail image, click on the "picture info" link (). Scroll down to the File Information section and click "Add to Favorites". IMPORTANT: In order to add a file to your Favorites, cookies must be enabled in your browser and the cookie from this site must not be deleted.
Question: How do I rate a file?
Answer: Click on a thumbnail image, scroll towards the bottom of the page, and click on the rating image of your choice.
Question: How do I post a comment on a file?
Answer: Click on a thumbnail image, scroll towards the bottom of the page, and add your comment. You can also add smilies to your comments. NOTE: In order to post comments, you must be registered and logged in.
Uploading Files & Managing Albums
Question: How do I upload a file?
Answer: Click the "Upload File" menu button. Then, click "Browse". Click on the file that you wish to upload, and then click "Open". Repeat this process for as many files as you wish to upload. You may upload up to 5 files at a time. When you have finished selecting files, click on the "Continue" button. The next page will tell you if your uploads were successful. Click on the "Continue" button again. On the next page, you will need to specify which album you would like to display your file(s) in. You can also add a title, description, and searchable keywords. When you have finished, click the "Continue" button. The last page will tell you if your files were successfully added to the album that you selected. Click that "Continue" button one last time and you're done!
Question: Where should I upload my file to?
Answer: You may upload your file(s) to one of your albums in "My Gallery" or the Public Album of the Main Gallery.
Question: What size and type of files can I upload?
Answer: The maximum size file which you may upload is 1024kb. At this time, you may upload any type of image, document, movie, or audio file that you wish. Permitted file types and/or file sizes are subject to change at the adminstrator's sole discretion.
Question: How do I create, rename or delete an album in "My Gallery"?
Answer: If you are not already in Admin Mode, click on the "Admin Mode" menu button. A new set of menu buttons will appear. Click on "Create/Order My Albums" and then click "New". "New Album" will appear in the album list. Select "New Album" from your album list and rename it to whatever you wish. Click "Apply Modifications". You can also delete, rename, and/or reorder any of the albums in your gallery.
Question: How can I modify and restrict users from viewing my albums?
Answer: If you are not already in Admin Mode, click on the "Admin Mode" menu button. A new set of menu buttons will appear. Click on "Modify My Albums". On the "Update Album" bar, select the album that you want to modify. Here, you can change the name, description, thumbnail image, and restrict viewing and/or comment and rating permissions. Click "Update Album".
Posting Photos on Message Boards & in Horseyville Classifieds
Question: How can I post my uploaded photos to message boards?
Answer: Once you have uploaded your photos, navigate to the album where you uploaded the photo that you wish to post. Click on the thumbnail image of your desired photo. On the next page, click on the "picture info" link (). Scroll down to the bbCode box of the File Information section and click on the "Copy" button (you do not need to select the text first). Go to the forum and right-click in the text area where you type your message. Select "Paste" from the context menu. That's it! This will post your image in your message, already resized, and will not stretch out the forum!
Question: How can I include a photo in a Horseyville classified ad?
Answer: Once you have uploaded your photo, navigate to the album where you uploaded the photo that you wish to include. Click on the thumbnail image of your desired photo. On the next page, click on the "picture info" link (). Scroll down to the For Ads box of the File Information section and click on the "Copy" button (you do not need to select the text first). Start a new topic on the Horses for Sale or Standing at Stud board and right-click in the 'URL of Photo' text field. Select "Paste" from the context menu. Fill out the rest of your ad as usual and that's it! Your photo will be included in your ad, already resized, and will not stretch out the forum!
